The aim of this course is to introduce students to the physical principles and instrumentation of diagnostic medical ultrasound.

The SPI Course covers the broad areas of fundamental ultrasound physics, real-time principles & instrumentation acoustic properties of tissue, transducers, focusing methods, resolution, signal processing, modes of display, digital signal and image processing, principles of Doppler ultrasound, contrast agents, biological effects, image recording devices, quality control, equipment selection, image optimization, grey-scale and Doppler artifacts and recent advances in medical sonography.
